Survey panel to mail bond issue survey to DeSoto voters
DeSoto registered voters will receive a district survey on elements of a pending bond issue. An advisory panel created after the October defeat of a 12.39 million bond oversees public sentiment and plans to mail to over 4,000 voters. The survey asks location, cost, and options for a new high school and related buildings, with costs estimated at 9.22 million for the high school, 2.9 million for an elementary school, or 200 thousand for renovations. The district would relocate ninth graders to the new high school and rearrange grades across buildings. a second option uses current elementary buildings for K to four and reassigns junior high grades. The board also denied an elementary art program request due to financial uncertainty pending state aid formula action.
