Lawrence man’s murder conviction upheld on appeal
Lawrence man Christopher Belone had his murder conviction upheld after a 2006 death in which Linda Begay was struck with a coffee table leg. Begay died of peritonitis from blunt abdominal trauma after hospital treatment. Belone was convicted of second degree murder and related counts, retried in 2012 for unintentional second degree murder, and sentenced to 36 years. The appeal reaffirmed the conviction following prior legal rulings.
