U S and Brazil sign accord for bilateral consultations

Emergency declared as blizzard cripples western Kansas

Snowstorm Brings 1-3 Inches to Region

Nixon Begins Eight Day Visit to China

Former President Richard Nixon and Pat Nixon arrived in Peking at 10 16 p m in an American built jet. They were greeted by Acting Premier Hua Kuo feng and Foreign Minister Chiao Kuan hua as 300 citizens and 50 visitors looked on. Kissinger suggested Nixon may brief the Ford administration on talks with Hua while observers note China hopes for restrained U S policy during the eight day trip and fears a Soviet nuclear accord.

Lawrence Accepts Low Bid for City Maintenance Garage

Twin City Construction Co of Kansas City Kan won the bid for the maintenance garage at 644 787, slightly below the city estimate of 650 000. The nine bids ranged to 739 000 with time to completion 220 days. The project will be funded entirely with Federal revenue sharing funds.
