About 375 people attended the KU Alumni Association event in the Kansas Union to honor 92 high school seniors from Douglas and Jefferson counties. Eighty eight were honor students in the top 10 percent. Each received a citation and a inscribed dictionary.

Fleetwood to Close Kan sas Mobile Home Plant Indefinitely
Fleetwood Homes of Kansas will shut its 807 E 29th plant in about three weeks after finishing current orders. Forty five workers will be laid off and reassigned to another Fleetwood Enterprises plant as production suspends at eight other mobile home plants nationwide. The Lawrence plant opened in 1971 with 150 employees, now reduced to 45. Fleetwood operates 66 plants. the closing idles 350 of 5,700 employees. Weide cited a 52 percent drop in mobile home shipments in the last quarter of 1974.

Jobless rate up in Kansas
The Kansas Employment Security Division reports January employment at 975,800, down 17,700 from December but 27,100 higher than January 1974. Jobless persons numbered 47,800, about 4.7 percent of the labor force, with seasonal layoffs in construction and post holiday cutbacks cited by executive director Bob Kent as reasons and a forecast of 14,000 to 16,000 more jobs from January to April due to construction, trade and services gains.
