Oscar D. Kochan, 86, of Baldwin, died Saturday evening at the Mary Crum Pest Home in Lawrence. Born December 13, 1874, in Maysville, Missouri, he served as president of Farmers State Bank in Maysville and was a board trustee of Missouri Wesleyan College in Cameron. He moved to Baldwin in 1945. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in Maysville, with burial at Oak Lawn Cemetery there. Survivors include his son Paul C. Kochan of Baldwin, a sister Mrs. Muriel Hewitt, a niece Mrs. E. V. Bourrette, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Atchison Man Hurt in Highway 24 Truck Crash
A 76 year old Atchison man J F Ashcraft Route 1 Atchison suffered a cut above the right eye and cuts to a hand in a two truck crash on Highway 24 four miles NW of Lawrence. Marvin Lester Cleek 96 of 1301 Oak Hill drove the other truck eastbound and slowing to turn left when struck from the rear by Ashcraft causing Ashcraft to overturn. Clock vehicle damage estimated at 300 dollars and Ashcraft vehicle demolished according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Deer Killed by Auto on Turnpike Near Lawrence
A yearling buck was struck and killed by a car eight miles west of Lawrence on the Turnpike at about 8 a.m. The 39 year old driver Roy W. Allen of Topeka escaped injury and his vehicle suffered about 250 dollars in damage. The buck was turned over to the Kansas Fish and Game Commission for disposal.
