Arson charge filed against former Lecompton farmer Sutton
A new complaint charging Harry Sutton with arson was filed in Milton Beach justice court this afternoon by County Attorney Charles Springer. Four counts accuse dynamiting gas tanks, burning a garage and barn, and attempting to burn two houses at Lecompton between May 16 and May 23, 1935. Sutton, held at Topeka State Hospital since a 1935 insanity ruling, faces continued district court action and a habeas corpus petition in Topeka probate court filed by attorney Ed Riline of Lawrence.
