Shuttle Endeavour mission stays on track despite thruster issues
NASA managers grow confident the Endeavour crew can complete a nine day radar mapping mission covering 72 percent of Earth's land with a balky thruster. They are trimming steering methods and waste water disposal to save fuel while monitoring a potential extra day in space before landing.

Signal confirms Mars Polar Lander lost again
NASA officials have given up active searches for the Mars Polar Lander after a faint Jan 4 signal was determined likely to originate from Earth. Telescopes in the Netherlands, Italy, and Stanford yielded no further signals on Feb 8, and analysts remain unsure of the craft fate. A NASA panel will decide whether to pursue orbiter lander missions in 2001 or delay to 2003 after reviewing the loss.
