Rookies Face Huge Hurdles In 2000 Winston Cup Chase
The rookie class of eight drivers led by Dale Earnhardt Jr and Matt Kenseth enters the season under heavy scrutiny as fans compare them to the 1979 group that launched Earnhardt, Labonte, and Gant. Kenseth aims to qualify and rack miles while Earnhardt Jr seeks to prove his worth beyond his famous name. The cohort spans diverse backgrounds from sprint cars to grand national to go karts, with Tony Stewart’s record setting debut looming as a high bar for success.
