Two Hurt In Head-On Crash North Of Pleasant Grove
Miss Cecelia Robinson deputy county welfare director suffered severe head lacerations and David Bryan Baldwin also had head cuts in a sleet slick head-on collision with a Diamond T truck driven by Harvey Hendrix of Independence Missouri. Robinson remained unconscious late afternoon and was rushed to Memorial hospital. The crash occurred on the long hill north of the Pleasant Grove store when Robinsons Oldsmobile veered onto the pavement and back in front of the oncoming truck. The truck sustained heavy front-end damage and both victims were picked up by passing cars. A separate report near 4 PM noted a Illinois-licensed coupe overturned on Highway 40 north of Mud Creek bridge with unknown injuries. The new distillery season opened in Scotland with orders heavy for 1937-38 Scotch deliveries.
