Power line failure plunges Lawrence into darkness
A rain sleet and snow storm left most of west Lawrence without power for nearly two hours as a 4000 volt cable burned at Nineteenth and Oklahoma Streets. Cecil Hough of Kansas Power and Light cited moisture in the cable from the storm as the cause. Weather observer C J Posey noted substantial moisture and lingering cold.
