Britain mourned George VI with a Windsor burial as Elizabeth II rode behind his coffin for two hours in London and Windsor. A million Britons lined streets while international figures attended the service and two minutes of silence marked the hour of the funeral.
Chappaqua station master George Williams operating the newspaper concession on the honor system set up a camera trap after noticing pilfering at the money box. He filmed five suspects including a woman taking larger coins, and threatened to show the footage while declining restitution and vowing to keep selling as usual.

Williams seeks under oath memory of Nunan’s role, as Nunan provides a notarized waiver from 1949 claiming permission to appear for the Indianapolis Brewing Co. before Treasury officials.
President Truman asked Congress for 715,238,165 more to fund ongoing operations. Major item is 28,800,000 for the Veterans Administration due to higher GI Bill trainee registrations. Also needed are payments for Korean casualty insurance, veterans benefits, Post Office rail mail costs, Treasury salary and banking law enforcement, and federal highway and defense housing aid.
Toneka Feb 15 The outlook remains bleak with continued below normal temperatures in Kansas. Night readings in the 20s and highs only in the 30s are forecast with widespread moisture in snow or rain. Southwest may see occasional snow tonight while northwest gets light snow Saturday and the south sees light rain or snow. Measurable moisture today was minimal, 0.01 inch at Wilhem, Goodland, and Topeka. Temperatures ranged from 46 at Chanute to 24 at Goodland.
Lawrence Masonic Lodge No. 6 was honored at the Grand Lodge meeting in Topeka as the only state group awarded an unlimited proficiency certificate for officers’ knowledge of ritualistic work in all degrees. Honorees for 1951 included Worshipful Master E. Leslie Haynes, Senior Warden Walter B. Sneegas, Junior Warden George W. Mole, Treasurer Clarence E. Birch, and Secretary Walter H. Varnum. Sneegas was elected regent Master to lead in 1952.
A February storm blankets Austria with heavy snow and avalanches cutting road and rail links. Evacuations of farmers from danger zones helped limit new deaths, keeping Austria's toll at 29 since Sunday as over two feet of snow piled up in many areas.

Prisoner exchange work reports slight progress as truce supervision talks resume with Reds expected to wait until after Saturday plenary.

Cities Service Gas Co and its union of operating engineers announced a mutually satisfactory settlement ending a contract dispute. The agreement includes a 40 to 48 hour week plan and an raise in hourly pay, though the exact amount was not disclosed. The deal averts a potential five-state gas service shutdown affecting 1.8 million customers in Kansas Oklahoma Missouri Nebraska and Texas.

The Army announces that National Guard and Organized Reserve members on involuntary duty will be released individually after 20 to 24 months of service. About 325,000 men are affected, with the plan starting next month. Anti aircraft units in the National Guard are excepted. Most Organized Reserve officers will complete 24 months, though some may be released earlier but not before their 20th month.
Photographers from 15 states will attend a three day course at the University of Kansas April 17 18 and 19. Faculty includes nationally known authorities in news photography with lectures on lighting posing and dark room techniques.
