Father and son honor Marines as children pursue service
West Virginia upbringing shaped Nicholson as he recalls drinking and his Marine years. After turning to faith, he found deliverance from alcohol and drugs. Ordained in 1979, he pastored near Camp Lejeune where Marines and families filled his congregations. His children Adam and Jennifer view his path as a guiding example and plan Marine careers, using it as a stepping stone for education while awaiting deployment to Iraq. He supports their decisions, urging they serve for right reasons and trusting in God’s care.
