Frank Carliso confessed to slaying Casper Pontoda, a six year old boy who died from diphtheria antitoxin injection administered by Pendola, the first doctor called. Carliso fled to Staten Island, was arrested, and Pendola arrived after the death. The child's mother and siblings were quarantined and hospitalized for contagious diseases.
