Rights Read Before Asking Age At Bar Checks
Douglas County Judge ruled that an ABC agent should have read Miranda rights before asking a KU student her age at a party. The decision says disclosing birth date can incriminate, potentially affecting all bar checks for underage drinking and prompting officers to advise rights prior to asking age.

Cleaning up town is dirty business for Lecompton duo
Lecompton residents Pat Istas and Dorothy Shaner lead a town clean-up push amid junked cars, brush piles, and nuisance complaints filed against 33 neighbors. Shaner, 86, recalls a historic junkyard and says the task draws sharp town division while Mayor Roy Paslay and others acknowledge the need to tidy up without broad participation.
