Baker University sees slight drop in out-of-state enrollment

Baker University officials report a small decline in non Kansas student enrollment at the Baldwin campus after a five year rise. The registrar notes 316 non Kansans currently enrolled, down from 394 in 1979, with total enrollment also slipping by 1.3 percent. Analysts say the trend may continue into the 1980s but Baker should remain viable.

Baker University enrollment stable despite 2000s gap

Baker University officials say current Baldwin campus enrollment of 804 undergraduates is stable after peaking at 1,027 in 1967. Associate dean Robert Kahle notes the Vietnam era peak and drafts boosted enrollment, with declines into 1970 and the 1973 74 period. Tuition aid and a state private college aid program help maintain current stability. Women now 51 percent of students, traditional age 18 24 remains dominant.
