KU Employees Injured In Turnpike Collision
Two Kansas University employees Sally Barber and Lloyd Lank were seriously hurt when their state vehicle collided head on with another car on the turnpike. Both remained in Providence Hospital in intensive care after the 4 45 p m crash. Barber suffered a broken femur and ankle injuries while Lank had multiple broken bones and lacerations in fair condition. The other vehicle carried a man, his wife, and a two week old baby who were reported in good condition.

A Tri-State Motor Transit Co. truck cab was destroyed by an explosion and fire in Webb City Missouri. A nearby woman was cut by glass as windows shattered across the area. One Day Left To Purchase Auto Plates In Douglas County
Douglas County vehicle owners have one day left to buy 1971 license plates to avoid a $1 late charge starting Wednesday. The county treasurer’s office notes offices are closed Friday and Monday for holidays, so tags will be sold Tuesday February 16 with no penalty. Sales neared 18 000 for auto plates and 4 600 for truck plates with a rush expected to 19 000 and 5 000 respectively before penalties. The $1 fee lasts until March 2 when it rises to $2 and drivers without 1971 tags face arrest starting March 2.
