Library hosts talk on hope as 180 copies remain free
About 120 people attended Shane Lopez lecture from Plymouth Congregational Church on hope and author Robinson. 180 free copies of the book will be distributed first come, first served at 700 New Hampshire St, with 25 copies for checkout. Next event with Nerd Nite Lawrence is Feb 12 at Pachamama’s, 800 New Hampshire St, themed love gone wrong and sexuality.

Unfinished Pediment Designs at Kansas State Capitol
The Kansas State Capitol pediments on the north and south wings were planned to feature relief carvings per an 1889 blueprint by former Statehouse Architect George Ropes. The design was never installed. reasons remain unclear. Current Statehouse Architect Barry Greis notes plans to add artwork in the pediments were always under consideration.

Dream Team volunteers guide clients to set personal goals
Penn House in Ballard operates a Dream Team of volunteers led by Kyle Roggenkamp to provide strengths based case management. In 2013 the program helped 36 households or 94 individuals with four graduates no longer dependent on services. Novelo, Belize-born volunteer, says anyone can join to help clients discover own solutions and avoid dependence on aid.
