Lawrence physician Dr. William Oliver Nelson, 76, died at Watkins Memorial Hospital after a heart attack. He practiced with his son Dr. Richard Nelson at 201 W 8th. Survivors include wife Mary Estelle, two daughters, two sons, and extended medical affiliations. Funeral Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Rumsey Funeral Home. burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. County to repair Kaw River bridge at Eudora instead of temporary span
Douglas County Board of County Commissioners were advised by Finney and Turnipseed not to build a pontoon bridge across the Kaw River at Eudora. The engineers say temporary construction would cost far more than it benefits and recommended repairing the two spans.
