Topeka Kans Feb 10 The house moved the oil refinery bill to special orders next Wednesday at 1 2 oclock before the committee of the whole. Oil refinery forces claim victory amid strong speaker opposition Stubbs and allies wanted referral to judiciary committee Franchise enlarged.
Topeka Feb 10 The Kansas House passed a bill granting women the right to vote in presidential elections by 65 to 50 with nine absentees. Opponent Hackney offered an amendment to strike the voting clause and substitute a ban on all women from voting in any election.
A joint meeting of two house members and three senate members failed to keep peace between the chief clerk of the house and the secretary of the senate over pay. Chief Clerk Kapp resigned after a committee report, while the senate secretary took no action. In Washington, military officials plan to staff ceremonial duties and proposed Kansas soldiers for the national guard leadership.

J Samuel McCue a former mayor of Charlottesville was hanged today for the murder of his wife. Three spiritual advisers read a statement saying McCue admitted sole responsibility and accepted his punishment as just. He faced the scaffold calmly and walked unaided after a stumble on the icy steps.
