Miss Edna Everett who teaches in the Junction City school arrived yesterday and will spend Sunday with her parents on Ohio street. Several Junction City teachers are inspecting the Lawrence schools this week. Mrs. Tanner, Mrs. Pugh, and Miss Pugh were at home to friends yesterday afternoon with a second shimbe party. A floral guessing contest and carda baby dainty hand painted souvenirs were enjoyed. An elaborate luncheon was served by the hostess with the assistance of neighborhood girls. In Hrogon West Virginia February it is believed possible today that some of the twenty six miners entombed in the Harrell mine may still be alive. Ten have been removed and no telegraph communication exists with the mine.
A violently insane foreigner was taken by Sheriff Woodward after rambling on the University campus yesterday. He claimed to deliver a lecture at the University and spoke of throne and message for Kansas people. He was confined in the county jail and sent to Kansas City this afternoon.
The second YMCA Basketball tournament game between the Blue Banners and Cyclones ended 17 to 0 in favor of the Cyclones, who forfeited due to three missing players. Jucick and Herkley starred for the Cyclones while Hunter and Asher led for the Blue Banners. The next game is set for February 14.
