Kansas House Advances Bill On Beer Sales Tax Change
The Kansas House approved a bill to let the state collect sales tax on beer sold in convenience and grocery stores starting in 2019. It aims to fix unintended effects of last year’s law, the great beer compromise, which lets stores sell stronger beer and broadens items in liquor shops. Strong beer reaches up to 6 percent alcohol by volume, while 3.2 beer is 3.2 percent alcohol by weight.
