Postmaster Judy Raney A says mail from drive through and pickup-point boxes is scanned only at or after the official pickup time. Early scans trigger a recheck, but no boxes are scanned before pickup. Weather and a blizzard Tuesday halted Lawrence mail to Kansas City, delaying postmarks to the next day.
KU wide receiver Chris Omigie, 19, was arrested early Saturday by a KU Public Safety officer after a traffic stop near 21st Street and Naish Smith Drive on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence. He posted a $500 bond and faces a Feb. 16 court appearance. Coach Turner Gill says he remains on the team and discipline will be handled internally. Omigie played in 10 games last season as a redshirt freshman and is from Arlington Texas.

A separate report notes theft of a 6-foot outdoor lighted menorah valued at $1,000 from the Kansas University Chabad Center, with director Rabbi Zalman Tiechtel calling it vandalism and seeking information.
