Tonia Williamson seventeen and Ralph Loudon twenty four faced a sudden end to their marriage plans after Loudon received a two year penitentiary term for auto theft. Williamson was released after admitting to accompanying Loudon in stealing the car to travel to Hopkins Missouri to meet Loudon’s father. Crash knocks rail cars from tracks near Chicago
The Advance Century passenger train derailed at Fines Station, 25 miles east of Chicago, with the baggage car, club car and four dwellmen leaving the rails while the engine stayed upright. No injuries were reported as New York Central rerouted passengers via a different train to continue toward New York. Harrell Hamlin a 32 year old drug store clerk was shot and killed during a robbery at Kim el drug store on Wichita north side. Two young suspects, one firing a .38, stole about $50 from the cash register and fled. Police roundup found no solid evidence against any suspect. In Austin the Brady jury in the case of John W Brady former civil appeals court judge charged with fatally stabbing Miss Lehlin Highsmith continued deliberations without reaching a verdict after 65 hours.
