On February 5 1631 Roger Williams and Mary arrived in Boston from England marking Rhode Island’s founder on this date. In 1783 Sweden recognized the independence of the United States. In 1811 George Prince of Wales became Prince Regent due to King George IIIs illness. In 1897 Indiana debated pi redefining circle area though the bill died. In 1917 Congress passed an immigration act despite Wilson veto. Mexico adopted its constitution in 1917. Roosevelt proposed Supreme Court expansion in 1937 amid cries of court packing.

Navy must follow environmental laws on sonar in no sonar zone

Prosecutor says secret footage admissible in Aruba case

Healthy living costs more to treat than obesity or smoking

Dutch researchers published in PLOS Medicine simulate lifetime health costs for three groups: healthy long lifespans, obese individuals, and smokers. From age 20 to 56 obesity incurs the highest costs, but healthier lifespans drive total costs higher over a lifetime, with healthy individuals costing about $417,000 vs $371,000 for obese and $326,000 for smokers.
