Kansas Farm Bureau survey of 17 supermarkets shows beef and pork cuts down or unchanged from two weeks ago. Ground beef holds at 74 cents a pound while round and T-bone steaks fall. eggs drop up to a dime a dozen and beet sugar prices slide for the seventh straight week.
A housekeeping bill would let city and county governments adopt ethics codes to supplement the state conflict of interests law. The measure follows a 1970 attorney general ruling that cities cannot enforce codes superseded by state law and now heads to the House for action.
The House Ways and Means Committee voted to approve an eight point four billion dollar income tax cut for individuals this year prioritizing households earning under twenty thousand dollars. The panel also considered a rebate for 1974 taxes while revising Ford's budget and proposed cuts to defense and foreign aid.

A strong quake struck the Liaotung peninsula in northeast China near the Hong Kong area at about 5 40 a m CDT with magnitude reported as 7 6 on the Richter scale by Japan s Meteorological Agency. Uppsala and USGS gave similar readings and noted a minor tremor affected Kyushu Japan.
