A suit for 1300 dollars to recover from H. T. Lynch of Independence Iowa was filed yesterday in district court by W. Anderson. The plaintiff says the amount is due from a price of 1800 dollars for a sand dipper and equipment on the bank of the river.
Thirty Lawrence children will attend the new fifth grade at Cordley to relieve crowded conditions in other buildings. The board formed the grade after a petition from parents, transferring children from crowded schools, with Miss Maid Garrett to teach the new class. A sixth grade at Cordley was considered but likely postponed.
As Chas Starkweather and son in law Geo Ware were walking home last evening he slipped crossing an alley near J O Ball street. He struck his temple and bled from a gash. A passing man aided him home and a physician soon attended. He rested easily and felt better today though staying at home. Starkweather has long been active in town public work and his accident drew local concern.
University students may enroll for the second semester tomorrow with a one dollar late entry premium. Registrar Foster notes grades for the past semester can be collected from the registrar's office.
