Kansas officials told to preserve records on governor residence meetings
Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor warned all Kansas legislators and Gov. Sam Brownback to preserve records and electronic files about social gatherings at Cedar Crest as potentially relevant evidence in a civil inquiry into open meetings act concerns. The letter urged immediate preservation of emails, voicemails, and tangible items, extending to staffs, and noted that others may face fines if records are altered or destroyed. Brownback aides defended the gatherings as social and within the law, while the newspaper presses for transparency and an official investigation.
