Planetary Society expands quest for alien civilizations
In Pasadena, the Planetary Society announces a plan to install META II a large radio receiver in Argentina to scan the entire universe for signals from intelligent extraterrestrials. The project backed by donors aims to extend past Northern Hemisphere limits and begin tests in June with a goal of three or more years of continuous listening.

Gravity alone could shape the early universe
Princeton scientists report a large scale computer simulation showing gravity alone may transform an initially smooth cosmos into a richly clumped structure with massive galaxy superclusters and vast voids. The study, using 4 million particles across 2 billion light years over 13 billion years, supports cold dark matter and fluctuations from the Big Bang as key in forming the present universe.
