Dillard's Faces New Discrimination Lawsuit in Overland Park
In Johnson County Kansas a suit filed by Raymond Washington and Nichelle Baskin accuses Dillard's security of racially biased stopping and searching in the Overland Park store. The case follows a recent $1 million verdict against Dillard's in a separate discrimination suit. Washington and Baskin, who say they were detained in a mall parking lot after shopping, claim a pattern of police style stops of black customers. They maintain purchases exceeded $250 and an additional $200 was spent before the stop. They reported the incident to a manager but left after no immediate action. The suit states the conduct is atrocious and intolerable in the community. Dillard's says it will appeal.
