Kansas Highway Patrol Sgt. Marion L. Cox escaped injury when a bullet from a passing car hit his windshield near Sixth and Lawrence Avenue. The missile did not penetrate the glass and Cox did not pursue the shooter. His son Daniel, 21, rode with them unharmed as investigators described the suspect vehicle as dark, possibly a Plymouth or Ford.
