Woman dies in Pike crash near Bonner Springs
Gladys I. Aiken, 39, of 1019 West 29th, died when her 1977 car left the Kansas Turnpike near Bonner Springs. The vehicle swerved across lanes, went over a bridge guardrail, overturned, exploded, and burned near a creek. Hospital administrator Don Lenz said a overloaded elevator motor burned out a motor and blew fuses. The 9 to 9:25 a.m. Thursday outage left patient care areas on emergency power while Kansas Power and Light investigated.
