Liberty and government must balance power, Long says

In Omaha on December 30, Chester I. Long of Wichita, president of the American Bar Association, urged that liberty depends on a union of national and state governments with equal power. He denounced moves to erode state authority, cited a proposed federal child labor amendment, and urged restoring local self government through state control. He traced two early political schools, Hamilton and Jefferson, and warned against excess centralization. Exemption claims for the two cent gasoline tax must be filed with County Clerk E Bussing before Saturday, covering October to November purchases.
