Budget cuts lift strain on Kansas schools turn to reserves

Attorneys filed suit to restore funding, while districts rely on reserves amid uncertain state support and legislative cuts. Tipsy Taxi to give rides to revelers
Sgt. Matt Sarna said Lawrence police and Douglas County sheriff's patrols stay normal during the holiday. Officials urged planning ahead and using taxis or friends, reporting drunk drivers, and wearing seat belts. Kansas data show 3292 alcohol crashes in 2007 with 118 deaths and 1944 injuries. The Tipsy Taxi program aims to prevent such crashes by providing free safe rides home.
