Lawmaker proposes tax holiday for gun sales
In Missouri a southwest lawmaker proposes a yearly tax-free window on gun purchases the Saturday after the Fourth of July. The bill targets only firearms and not ammunition and aims to make guns more affordable for law abiding residents seeking to protect their families. Critics call the plan ill conceived arguing more weapons do not improve safety. The measure allows local opt outs while keeping state sales tax exempt. County Sheriff Jim Arnott supports expanded civilian carry and ongoing training for gun owners.

They had pursued asylum since 2013, with Amaro raising funds for his release on an $8,000 bond as their court case commences in 2019.
