Scaled-Down Conservation Aid Planned for Farmers in 1974
The Agriculture Department announced a reduced conservation measure for 1974, authorizing 90 million dollars for the Rural Environmental Conservation Program to aid farmers with approved land projects. Congress provided 175 million, but budget actions trimmed funding. a 10 million dollar water bank program will run at full authorized level. The RECP continues prior conservation methods with emphasis on long term planning and tree planting.
