Sgt Gary Norman Brizendine of Bonner Springs received the Bronze Star from President Johnson for valor with the Marines in Vietnam. While with Company A, 3rd Marines, 9th MAB during Operation Beaver Cage on May 3, he exposed himself to heavy fire to rescue two wounded Marines, returning with weapons and gear. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Clifton Brizendine and had planned to finish his Marine stint in February while spending holidays with his parents.
