Life-saving transplant changes Hays teen's life
Jarrett Basgall, 20, of Hays, received a stomach small intestine and pancreas transplant in January after years of illness from pseudo obstruction. Donations from local communities funded the Pittsburgh surgery, enabling him to eat real food, swim, play sports, and plan college studies in psychology or psychiatry with ongoing Pittsburgh follow-ups.

Torah from Nazi era hidden in Ishbitz found in St Louis
A Polish Torah hidden in an attic since World War II was discovered by Ethan Schuman and a companion in Ishbitz. They delivered it to the St. Louis Holocaust Museum and Learning Center, which said the scroll, dating to the late 18th or early 19th century, survived the Holocaust and will join the permanent exhibit. The find came during Schuman’s visit to Ishbitz, a once thriving Jewish center now sparsely populated.
