Boys Stir at Wichita Jail Disturbance by Juvenile Detainees
About 25 boys aged 16 and 17 caused a disturbance in the Sedgwick County courthouse juvenile detention unit on the eighth floor. Police and sheriff's deputies quelled the episode after about 90 minutes. Judge Clark V. Owens condemned housing 16 and 17 year olds there, citing lack of activities and urging a dedicated facility as the cause of ongoing trouble.
