Mrs Cal Ward wife of Cal Ward assistant regional director for the rural resettlement administration in charge of rehabilitation suffered a fractured right arm and other injuries while her husband escaped with bruises in a car crash near Sabetha last night. She was reported in satisfactory condition after treatment at a Sabetha hospital and later moved to Lawrence Memorial hospital with Mr Ward accompanying her. Ward also had a sprained left ankle and a facial cut. their car was badly damaged. Ward was formerly president of the Kansas Farmers Union.

Waterbury Vermont December 26 three army officers attached to a civilian conservation corps were burned to death and three others severely burned in a fire that destroyed the officers quarters at Camp Smith near the Little River dam. United States District Attorney Felthan Watson said he would travel to Tientsin to investigate charges against Dr. John Colbert, a 50 year old former St. Louis physician and American Legion leader, accused of attempting to poison his wife.
