Man faces new sex crime charges in Douglas County
Johnie Lomas Salute, 35, returned to Douglas County while serving a 122 month sentence for two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. He now faces one felony count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child under 13 and one count of lewd and lascivious behavior for alleged incidents in December 2017 involving a second victim under 13. He was jailed December 14 on a 25000 bond and is set to appear January 9, 2024.

Lawrence man charged with sex crime against teenage girl
Lawrence man Quarter Eugene Longfellow-Coleman, 21, faces one felony count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child for intercourse with a girl aged 14 to 16, alleged to have occurred in May 2021. He was arrested Dec. 16 and held on 15000 cash or surety bond with a Dec. 28 status conference. He previously was convicted in 2020 on two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child and lewd behavior, resulted in a 2021 nine month probation following juvenile cases from 2018.

Lawrence man arrested for arson at The Wagon Wheel
Robert Shane Johnson, 39, was arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire was set at The Wagon Wheel restaurant and bar near the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence. Fire crews found an exterior fire at 9:09 a.m. with no injuries or occupants present. Investigators quickly linked the blaze to arson and took Johnson into custody.
