Two Kansas Wind Farms Now Online Near Kingman
Two central Kansas wind farms, the Kingman 120 turbine and the Ninnescah 121 turbine centers owned by NextEra Energy Resources, began producing about 400 megawatts for Westar Energy. The sites bring roughly 800 million dollars in investment and local payments and create 23 jobs in Kingman and Pratt counties, while a federal suit against Ninnescah over endangered whooping cranes remains pending after a 60 day notice period. NextEra will monitor crane activity for one year as a permit condition.
