Prosecution of Strong Hall Disturbance Probed by County

Douglas County Attorney-elect Mike Elwell will handle all prosecutions from the Strong Hall disturbances at Kansas University. Three charged under riot statutes are Ronald Washington Darryl Bright and Vanessa Collins with origins in Chicago Maywood and KU ties. Washington Bright and Collins were not enrolled at KU at the time.

Car Fire Near Fraternity House Causes Minor Damage

A car owned by Jack Kaiser on 1941 Stewart Ave backfired while starting around 8 10 p m Monday near his fraternity house. The Lawrence Fire Department estimated five dollars in damage for the minor fire.

Christmas Prelude at Lawrence High Tonight

Lawrence High presents its annual Christmas Prelude at 7 30 in the school auditorium with the A Cappella Choir directed by Lewis Tilford and Larry Williams leading the orchestra. Youth Wounded In Gun Accident in Eudora

Rodney Strunk a 13 year old, was shot in the upper left leg by his brother 14 year old Charles in Eudora while visiting a neighbor. The injury required treatment by a local physician. Charles had been handling a twelve gauge shotgun when it discharged. Rodney was ascending a staircase at the time.

Charges Filed In Local Death Involving Self Defense

Voluntary manslaughter charges will be filed against Milo Lowry 73 of 418 Lincoln in the death of Joseph T Suttles 73 of the same address. County Attorney elect Mike Elwell said the complaint was prepared for a warrant. Suttles died from a .38 caliber chest wound and Lowry said he acted in self defense. he was released Sunday after questioning by the police.

Chancellor Laurence Chalmers told reporters his job is not in jeopardy amid campus disturbances at Kansas University. He stated he would know if the Kansas Board of Regents planned action against him.
