New York on Blackwell's Island saw a blaze in the women's workhouse as hundreds of inmates were evacuated. Male prisoners formed a rescue line, carrying or guiding frightened women to safety through dense smoke. Fire crews fought the flames. fire spread remained confined to the women's ward.
Washington early today faced two fires causing an estimated loss of 100000. Four women were rescued from the Juelg piano company building at 1206 G Street NW by firefighters Ligur Bullivan and Fo Neeman Samson. The Hetckell Co. agricultural implement shop near the Majestic Theatre on U Street also burned out five trees.

New York December 20 Abra ham H Hummel famed divorce attorney was found guilty of conspiring to sever a marriage with Morse. Justice Ko era sentenced Hummel to one year in prison and a $5000 fine. He was taken to the Tombs preparatory to penitentiary transfer as DA Jerome urged immediate execution of the sentence.
