Grandstand Sportswear and Glassware in East Lawrence faced 27 OSHA violations after inspectors found lead and other hazardous chemicals. Wipe and air samples detected lead arsenic and cadmium, prompting 21 health violations. A second review added six electrical and machinery safety breaches. Lawrence city commissioners approve initial pay raise plan
Lawrence commissioners preliminarily approved a plan to more than double salaries, with raise to 20000 for commissioners and 25000 for the mayor, taking effect before two of five face re election and possibly after the April 2015 elections. The move would mark the first raise since 1999 proposed by Terry Riordan and Bob Schumm.
