On Massachusetts Street residents answer how they feel about winter weather. Steve Christianson from Prairie Village says he enjoys the cold and the snowy feel, while others share mixed views about the season.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Douglas County and parts of northeast and north central Kansas as a storm threatens several inches of snow and strong winds late tonight into Thursday morning. Snow amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected with 20 to 30 mph winds and gusts up to 40 mph, creating potential whiteouts and dangerous travel conditions. Residents are urged to stay home if possible and drivers to allow extra time, drive slowly, and watch for icy surfaces on roads and overpasses.
The city mandates dogs be leashed to under six feet and under control when outside fences, with an exception for electronic collars. Owners must also clean up dog waste.

Daniel C. Cisneros of Elkton Maryland waived his preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty to robberies on November 25 at Zarco 66 and November 26 at Kwik Shop in Lawrence. A white man with WVU logo hat confronted staff, demanded money, with no weapon shown in the first incident and a perceived weapon in the second. Cisneros remains free on $10,000 bond, trial set for April 24.

Suspects named only after charging. Assaults reported only if major injuries occur. Holdups and robberies are covered.
