City halts excavation until state floodplain permit issued
Town Talk notes planning director Scott McCullough says a federal levee protects the site near the Kansas River but a state floodplain development permit is required. A stop work order was issued on the excavation until the Division of Water Resources grants the permit. The project may become a salvage yard, with a 14,000 square foot building planned on North Third Street and enhanced indoor storage.
