Wichita priest accused not charged with sexual assault

Sedgwick County District Attorney Nora Foulston said the woman’s 2004 allegations against a Wichita priest were false, noting the acts cited were consensual and not sexual assault. The diocese defended its handling, and Warren said she hopes others report abuse. The case ends without charges.

Voters approve destination resort casino plan in Harvey County

In Harvey County about 20,000 ballots were tallied with 6,403 for and 6,030 against. Commissioners in Harvey, Marion, and Sumner counties had moved to place the issue before voters to back a $300 million casino. The Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska sought a Wichita area site but now considers other locations as Sedgwick County delays a referendum.
