Ice plant leak hospitalizes six in Landover
Four workers and two paramedics were hospitalized after a chemical leak at an ice making plant in Landover Tuesday night. Four were in fair condition, one serious, another in good condition. Two more workers were treated and released. The leak originated from a compressor at the warehouse of that supermarket chain. Hazardous materials crews cleaned the area as the compressor was shut down. The chemical reaction occurred when freon gas contacted a heat source or flame.

Town official charged with embezzlement in Connecticut
The chief financial officer of a town, Paul Sanitorio, was charged with first degree larceny for allegedly embezzling at least 10000 dollars in parking meter receipts. Police saw him turning in large sums at Mohegan Sun Casino in Montville and alerted Darien police. The 39 year old Greenwich resident turned himself in and posted no bond for arraignment in Stamford Superior Court. He has served as town financial officer since March 1996 and faces up to 20 years in prison.
