Alvamar Club hosts first Christmas at Crossgate outreach
About 100 people attended Christmas at Crossgate at Alvamar Country Club in Lawrence. The event, organized with Family Promise, Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen, Penn House, and Lawrence Community Shelter, offered a brunch buffet and Santa visits, with wrapped gifts financed by club members for low income families. Santa’s appearance drew cheers as children lined up for photos and gifts. The club hopes to make the event an annual tradition.

Professor helps tribes in climate lawsuit
Kansas University law professor Elizabeth Kronk Warner joined native nations in a climate rights suit against the federal government. She filed a friend of the court brief with the D.C. Circuit, arguing climate impacts harm native populations most. She hopes for a late 2014 resolution, likening the pace to tobacco litigation.
