Advent season shapes prep at area churches
Area church leaders describe Advent as a centuries old period of hope and anticipation. St. Margaret's Episcopal Church meets at Quail Run School and Trinity Lutheran mark weeks with wreaths, creches, trees and lights as Christmas nears. They emphasize awaiting both Christ’s birth and his second coming, with readings from Isaiah and apocalyptic New Testament passages. Advent culminates in Christmas Eve services, including a candlelit barn service outside Lawrence.
